Reconnect with your body, your breath, with yourself.
Take time to step away from the intensity of modern life. Enjoy the golden autumn in southern Tessin with a wildly romantic mountain landscape. It is a time for reflection, letting go of what you no longer need and nurturing the qualities within to help sustain your future well-being. Both gentle and active yoga practices, time for hiking or massages and delicious, nourishing food will bring a sense of inner peace and a deeper, more positive connection to yourself.
The daily yoga practices, meditation and pranayama, delicious organic meals and beautiful natural surroundings are all there to support you during your time here. My intention is for you to leave the retreat balanced, refreshed and with the tools to help you stay on track and support your self-care and a healthy lifestyle.
Men, women, and all experience levels welcome. This retreat is designed to be accessible to all with modifications and variations offered as needed.

Meet Your Teacher, Karen
As a driven and over-worked business owner, I tried yoga to help relieve stress and regain strength and flexibility. I never looked back and sold my company to dedicate my career to inspiring others to prioritize their health, wellbeing and stress relief through yoga.
Since 2014 I have completed 1100 hour yoga teachers training at Centered Yoga, Samahita in Thailand, am certified by Yoga Alliance RYT 500 and regularly attend continued professional development in philosophy, anatomy, movement including alignment and somatic practices, pranayama (breath work) and meditation. I specialize in teaching private clients as well as offering group classes and leading retreats.
My background as a professional ballet dancer, teacher and business owner plus being a wife, mother of 3 sons and living in a foreign country all contribute to my strengths as a teacher, allowing me to help clients that are looking for a way to integrate balance into their busy lives.
What others are saying about the Renew and Recharge Retreat.
"The yoga retreat was way more than I expected. You gave us such a lot of different small ideas on how to integrate self-care into our daily life.
I really enjoyed the mix of meditation, pranayama and yoga. It was very nice to start the days in silence, then begin with breathwork and meditation before moving into a more active yoga practice.
It was amazing to see and feel how much effort and preparation work you put into this retreat! You gave us so much! You were there for us with such an open mind during the whole retreat. I don't take this for granted!
I felt very comfortable in the whole setting. The group was amazing. I could be myself and do whatever I needed and that was ok.
The Casa Santo Stefano was such a perfect place for this retreat. The area offers something for everybody. Hiking in the beautiful forests, relaxing and getting a massage or just enjoying the comfy corners in and around the house with a good book.
Thank you so much Karen for all your effort and energy you put in all this! I hope to join one of your next retreats and see you there again. You are an amazing yoga teacher!”
“The yoga retreat was very much what I had expected as I have practiced with Karen before. I've noticed that I am much more relaxed and more confident in my strength and abilities as far as my yoga practice goes. I felt so good taking all that time just for myself and my own mental and physical health and wellbeing. It felt like a gift to myself.
What I liked most about our retreat was the instructor and was how much thought and care she Karen put into making every moment and every participant count. The wonderful women who were part of the retreat – it felt like a warm cocoon of women power, kindness and support. And, the location, the delicious brunches and vegetarian dinners.
Karen is such a gifted instructor. Her voice is so calming and she makes everyone feel like they are doing enough regardless of their yoga or meditation experience. She has such a unique way about her and is one of the most compassionate people I have ever met. She shines with a light so bright it makes you light up too.”
"I already had "high expectations" :), but they were even exceeded and the retreat was more than fantastic, in every way: the pranayama, meditation and the movements - a lot of it was new to me which I really appreciated. I realised how little effort it takes to pay more attention to my breath in my daily life, that was probably the most "aha" moment.
What I liked most about our retreat was time to pay attention to things one does not do in daily life, chat with like-minded people, the Casa retreat centre is fantastic (calm, comfortable, nice surroundings), and Karen, you have been the best teacher and host I could have ever wished for. I really appreciated our little chats and your way of sharing tips.”
“I enjoyed the variety of practice, breath work, meditation, silent mornings, shared meals, and time alone. The benefits I felt included practicing gratitude and understanding the reasons why, asking for and offering forgiveness. I also had a heightened awareness of MY personal yoga.
What I liked most about our retreat was the daily structure; confidence in Karen guiding and holding the group and sessions; opportunities for walks, talks and shared meals.
Karen knows her work, prepares thoughtfully and thoroughly allowing flexibility in process. Go with an open mind and heart. Have your own awareness of little self care practices to draw on when challenges arise. There is no need to hide nor over-share/connect with everyone.
Gift wrap THIS experience - it cannot be repeated, retain the qualities of it within.”
"As a result of the yoga retreat, I now try to think about taking some time for myself, especially focusing on deep breathing and to find some quiet time. What I enjoyed most was the breath work, Vinyasa yoga and getting to know a lovely and inspiring group of ladies.
So many people, whether working full time or stay at home parents would benefit from this experience. It was relaxing, peaceful, friendly, restorative and you leave feeling so much more relaxed both in your body and mind."
"I learned many new yoga postures and I came in touch with meditation, which I liked very much. I enjoyed practicing yoga twice a day and concentrating on our body, to be in nature and to find a calm environment. Thank you very much for these great and relaxing days. I would love to take part in such a retreat again."
"I enjoyed learning yoga and found a new way to feel within myself. I practice every day now. I liked the balance between breathing, stillness and movement. Also, the location, practicing twice a day and coming together with other women in a circle to share our experiences. Thank you very much♡"
"The location is perfect in order to escape the world a little bit. The retreat helped me to calm down. The meditation was a new experience, it was very empathetic so it felt totally natural and I really liked it. I also enjoyed the different yoga classes and variations, they helped me to improve.
The group was absolutely amazing and everyone was so open minded which I liked."
Frequently Asked Questions
I’m Not Flexible Can I Still Participate?
Definitely! This retreat is for everyone, and one of the many benefits of the practice is learning how to gain greater flexibility and ease in the body as well as relieving head, neck and back strain from repetitive motion and your sedentary work environment.
I Have Pre-Existing Pain and/or Injuries, Can I Still Practice?
Yoga and Mindful Movement practices are often advised to those dealing with pain or healing from injuries. However, please be sure to receive your doctor’s permission to begin any new physical activity. It is essential you tell me if you’re experiencing pain or recovering from any injuries, so I can help guide you through a safe practice.
What Do I Need to Wear?
Comfortable clothing that allows your body freedom to move. We practice without shoes.
Do I Need a Yoga Mat?
Yoga mats will be available to use during the retreat free of charge. However, I recommend purchasing your own yoga mat. This will help you stay accountable, build your confidence and make progress so that you can practice after the retreat has finished. Any other yoga props required during class (e.g. blocks, cushions and blankets) will be provided by the retreat centre.
Should I Eat or Drink Before I Practice?
Try not to eat anything heavy before you practice. It will make breathing and your movements that much easier on an empty stomach. Try to avoid drinking during practice.
