Dispelling Myth 5: Yoga is not a man’s world

Dec 3, 2016 | Yoga for Beginners, Yoga Tips

(Did you miss Myth 4? If so, catch up here.)

Calling out to those who may be resisting yoga even more than you!

Traditionally, classical yoga was created by men for men only. It wasn’t even considered for women. In recent years mainstream media has heavily targeted women and now the western image of yoga is often falsely represented as the ideal slim, young female body.

My primary yoga teacher is male. His teachers were male. Many of the best teachers in the world are male. More and more sportsmen and male athletes are integrating yoga…

If we get back to the true essence of yoga and reflect on some of the benefits. How it reduces heart rate, blood pressure and stress, helps relieve back pain, anxiety and insomnia, improves strength, flexibility and concentration. Then isn’t it worth encouraging a male friend, relative or loved one to get past their misconceptions that yoga is only for girls and give it a go?

I’m sure you know a guy who could benefit. The positive shift and transformation I’ve seen in male practitioners has been huge. They need this and know they do, once they’ve tried.

Are you ready to help change someone’s life for the better? Challenge them to join you!
